Neurelitism

October 31, 2007

Maybe this one is better:

neurelitism, i.e., neur-elitism

It combines neur- (neuro- before consonents) with elitism. The term “power elite” is commonly used in sociology:

A Power Elite, in political and sociological theory, is a small group of people who control a disproportionate amount of wealth, privilege, and access to decision-making of global consequence.

Instead of power elitism, we have neurological elitism (neurelitism).

As with ageism, classism, sexism, racism, colorism, and ethnicism, the point of constructing words in this fashion is to focus on the system of oppression, not on any particular status. I originally came up with neurotypicalism, but, after some comments, I rejected it for that very reason.
