Syndrome and Disorder
Basically, the term “syndrome” is a euphemism for a “disorder”:
Disorder: An ailment that affects the function of mind or body: eating disorders and substance abuse.
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition
Syndrome: A group of symptoms that collectively indicate or characterize a disease, psychological disorder, or other abnormal condition.
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition
I personally do not use either term. I call it Asperger’s autism.
In any event, I think we should each call ourselves what we want, i.e., not what the establishment may call us.
